Who can join?
Archery is one of the most inclusive and accessible sports there is - women and men, young and old, experts and novices, able bodied and disabled can all shoot together on a "level playing field". The only limitation is that, for safety reasons, we can't take anyone below High School age - sorry!
The process for joining us depends on your level of experience as an archer:
For those new to archery, we offer Beginners' Courses which will run for four weeks. The course will introduce you to target archery, what to expect when you start shooting (including the basics of technique), and how to stay safe. This is a practical course run by an Archery GB qualified coach and all equipment is provided. All sessions must be attended. The cost of the course is £60. For obvious reasons, these courses have a limited number of spaces, and they will be allocated on a first come, first served basis - but if you don't get a place on the next one, others will follow within two or three months.
For those who already have experience in archery, you are welcome to apply to join the club straight away - or shoot as a visitor or associate member if you already have Archery GB membership. However, we would ask that if you haven't shot for some time, you come for an assessment session to make sure that you are safe to shoot. As long as you let us know in advance, you can come along at 7pm on any club night for the assessment.
If you don't have your own equipment, we have a limited amount of club bows and other personal kit which may be available, although priority for this will be given to those who have just completed a beginners' course.
